Growing up with naturally curly, crazy, coarse and unruly hair, it was everything I could do to manage it. Styling it was almost out of the question without some professional help. As I got older, managing my hair became less of a trick (thank you Keratin) and my energies were better focused on learning how to actually STYLE my hair. So, at the ripe old age of 23, I finally started working on making my hair look like I did it. Over the last seven years, I have managed to learn to straighten my hair, top knot it and do one curl with an iron – the beach wave. Yep, that’s it. So as I sat from the stands at the Target fashion show earlier this month and watched models stomping it out with their hair in waves, I couldn’t have been happier. I’ve got this one…
My goals in doing my hair are two-fold: (1) make a blowout last as long as possible, and (2) create a really pretty curl that will actually look better as it falls. With the help of dry-shampoo (like the one used on the models above - here), my blowouts can make it an embarrassingly long time. And when it comes to creating curls that gracefully fall into waves, all you need is a texturing spray pre-curl (here) and a little flexible hold hair spray post (here). Combine these with your beach wave curl (here) and it’s sure to be fall magic. Needless to say, this is sure to be my go-to hair style for yet another season. Glad the beauty gods are on my side for once.
